As the smell of Hot glue wafts all through the house...










See this old gal? This was my Mother's most coveted possession...her tried & true glue gun. She used it to adhere almost everything to anything. It sat in a place of honor: beside her at the kitchen table, accompanied of course by her second most prized possession, her fan(hot flashes) About 6 months ago or so, my father presented it to me in a rather ornate box, which given it's previous owner's affection for it, was most fitting. Today I plugged it in for the first time since her passing, crossed my fingers (as this baby is at least 20 years old), & smiled with joy as after a prolonged period it emitted it's familiar distinct odor. Behold Project Tres! It's a Christmas card holder(did you guess?) This festive hoop isn't large enough to hold all of our holiday greetings, however I think it will make a perfect display for the most ornate & personal of them. Super easy to make, let me know if you'd like to learn. Update on the bird houses! While Chloe has finished hers I am stumbling along with mine. This one is just about completed, I think I need a little cardinal poking it's head out of the hole. Needs a little "OMG" i think... Hmm I need time to ponder some more. To wrap it up: Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend, and did some fun family festive activities. We attended our favorite threshold to the Holidays event this Saturday, Audubon's Fire Engine Parade~ Perfect chilly jump start to the Holiday Season~ Happy Sunday!

Project Tres






Quick Post tonight. First I am providing a picture of the Sign project...it was debuted yesterday, and to rave reviews I must add..thank you, thank you...So I must move on ( don't worry I'll make more signs ) as my ADD does not let me dawdle long. I am not going to tell you what this one is going to be. I'll leave you to guess. I will reveal it's purpose at it's completion however.

Project ADD


Had I mentioned that I have Adult On-set ADD? No, well, that's probably because we are only 4 posts in...and I forgot. Turns out I do, probably have had it all my life: it would explain A LOT of things, really. But I digress. So I mentioned before the birdhouses & today I want to talk about the signs. No, not the mediocre Shyamalan follow up to The Sixth Sense, my 'Let it Snow' signs! Silly rabbits.


I like the wooden expressions signs you see at all craft fairs now, but I never purchase them for 2 reasons. 1. They are ridiculously over priced....I mean it's a piece of wood with paint on it. and 2. This kids is the reason why I don't purchase many things at craft fairs...the internal, and at times external voice , that says: I can make that myself.


So we are adding to my growing holiday crafts list Painted wooden signs. Sorry I don't have a photo yet but I do have the 2010 Holiday Card photo from yesterday's photo shoot to share ~

See I bought these wooden bird houses...about 3 years ago...


So I had this bright idea, well I thought it was anyway, that I was going to take the patterned paper that I have hoarded(because I love it so NOT because I have a problem) and decoupage birdhouses to give them to my amigos for Christmas as a hand made token of my friend-love for them. The wrinkle was I had this idea when my little hurricane Chloe was in the midst of her terrible twos. Needless to say the idea sputtered to a halt after only one evening of attempt, and houses were tucked away into my closet with the occasional glance and accompanying thought of "I really should...". which always passed.


Fast forward to 2010 ...a nifty new craft room...LOADS of space to unfetter my always cluttered head and... mostly importantly... a more matured Chloe ( who subsequently is now down graded to a Tropical storm with the occasional squall)


I am so excited to get going on these! I would probably have finished one last evening had Tropical storm Chloe not been so taken with the Jabberwocky fight scene in Alice in Wonderland that she started using her Go-gurt as a sword and proceeded to spatter yellow tinged yogurt all over my new couch, walls, leather table & lamp.


Deep breath & count 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10......it's going ot be ok...so the cleaner stained the cushions...I'll be fine

How to have fun with Paper


I love LOVE patterned paper. I love it so much I hoard it...not a good thing. Every once in a while those stores of paper inspire me to get crafty. Here are some cutie little gobblers I've been making in honor of the season. I found a template on line for a felt place marker & just adapted it for my project.

Hope springs eternal

One of my favorite expressions. It is so true, if you allow it that is. The human mind's ability to recover, heal & move on is amazing to me. It is amazing, and absolutely necessary. Can you imagine walking around that raw all the time? Never progressing, never going through the stages of grief. Instead of there being only a part of the populous that you looked at and silently thought "What a basket case" we'd all be that person...epiphany...if we were all that way, then I guess no one would notice. Then the exceptions would those that had it together. What would be said about those individuals? Something to ponder I suppose~
